ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Dear Member of Slaughden Sailing Club

I am writing to request your attendance at the up coming AGM which will be held at the clubhouse on Saturday November 9th at 16.00 hours

This is an opportunity to share with you our achievements in 2019 and for you to voice any opinions that you may have. It also provides an opportunity to: -

  • Learn about our plans for the following year 2020.
  • Consider applying for one of the Committee and or Non-Committee roles
  • Volunteer your support for any events in 2020
  • Engage with new and existing members of the club
  • Celebrate success with members that have won awards throughout the year
  • Socialise and enjoy some great food and conversation

The timetable for the day

16:00 18:00 AGM

18:00 19:00 Prize Giving

19:00 onwards (sit down 19.30) AGM Supper at 5 per head (separate poster)

(Sausage Cassoulet or Vegetarian Bake)

The format of the specific AGM will be consistent as with previous years.

Commodore to provide a brief overview of club activities during the year

Treasurer to report on club finances

Draft minutes of the 2018 AGM and officers' reports for 2019 are available in the Members only area of the club website and are available on request from the Club Secretary, Penelope Davis Brown. Please take time to read these prior to the meeting.

On the day of the AGM only the treasurers report and Accounts will be available.

The Committee will also be available to answer your questions in an open forum. Should you wish to share your questions beforehand it would be helpful if you could e mail these through to the Secretary - Penelope Davies-Brown <penelope.adam.pdb@gmail.com>

I look forward to seeing a great turnout for the AGM and where possible your attendance at the Prize Giving and Supper.

NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of Slaughden Sailing Club will be held at the clubhouse on SATURDAY 9th NOVEMBER 2019 AT 16.00 HOURS.

(The President will manage the timing of the AGM which will end at 18.00 hours or beforehand)

- approval of the 2018 AGM minutes

4. Commodore's Address

6. Proposal for an amendment to the Constitution* see below

3. Officers and Management Committee

3.2 Management Committee

This shall consist of the officers of the club plus Membership Secretary, Social Secretary, Information Technology (IT) Officer, and two other members. Each member has a single vote. The President may attend meetings but may not vote. The Management Committee shall meet as and when required. Five members shall constitute a quorum. In the case of equality of votes the Commodore or Chairman shall have a second and casting vote.

Friends of Slaughden

Available to Full Members who no longer wish to sail and to new Members who just wish to support the club and join in occasional shore-based activities. Friends of Slaughden membership is granted at the discretion of the Membership Secretary or Management Committee where an application is considered valid and within the spirit of the club. A Friend of Slaughden will be welcome at the club, receive the newsletter and other relevant communications and may attend General Meetings but will have no voting rights. Friend of Slaughden Membership is reviewed annually.
