About the Club
Slaughden Sailing Club (SSC) was founded as a volunteers club over 50 years ago on the River Alde in Aldeburgh Suffolk. Members are proud of their club, and its friendly and welcoming nature. We can trace back the beginnings of our club refer History
We have circa 270 members of all ages and membership types. The current split of categories is

New members are always welcome, membership brings the benefits of friendship, support, training and involvement in the running of the club, together with a lively sailing and social programme. refer membership
We also have a temporary membership programme for those visiting the area. Temporary members can join on a daily, weekly or monthly basis and have full access to the clubhouse. Facilities include car parking, changing rooms, showers and catering for up to 50 people. refer membership
Whilst we have a range of club boats, refer club training fleet. these can only be hired, at the moment, by Club members with a minimum RYA L2 dinghy qualification. However an option to sail with one of our qualified RYA Dinghy Instructors in attendance may be possible subject to availability.
Temporary members are allowed to launch their own boats, kayaks, canoe's, paddle boards where for a fee they can be stored in the dinghy park.
Like most clubs we have an appointed Committee, Trustee's, an AGM , Club Constitution, Club rules and an enthusiastic band of volunteers.
