A Warm Welcome to New Members 2025
Introduction Slaughden Sailing Club is a very friendly and informal sailing club situated on the rivers Alde/Ore at Aldeburgh, Suffolk. Having around three hundred members and a busy programme means that you can easily get to know everyone. However, small doesn't mean basic. We have a modern, recently extended, clubhouse with galley, changing rooms, showers and a lounge with a fine view west up river where you can sit in a comfy chair and watch the racing - or the fantastic sunset, depending on your preference!
The Club operates largely on a self help basis and we hope that members will assist whenever they can. Occasional working parties are organised to maintain the clubhouse, the dinghy park and club equipment. Members are always welcome at the frequent social events and experienced dinghy helms, both with and without RYA qualifications, form the volunteer backbone of the club training programme.
There are no paid staff (with the exception of clubhouse cleaning). In this way subscriptions are kept to a modest level. The Club appeals to those who prefer an informal atmosphere and whilst attracting members from a wide range of backgrounds it is very suited for those "boating on a budget" who wish to look after their own craft, and for those who have an interest in sailing and want to learn more.
Our more experienced members are always willing to help and advise.
Over the years Slaughden Sailing Club has won a reputation for being a friendly family club and always makes new members and visitors welcome.
