Slaughden Sailing club in Aldeburgh will be inviting the local community and surrounding areas to come down to have a go at sailing / cruising / kayaking / canoeing / rowing / paddle-boarding and educational rib rides [for free] on a date TBC.

Canoes, Kayaks and Paddle Boards
Slaughden Sailing Club offers membership to those with Kayak’s, Canoes, and Paddle Boards (SUP’s) Temporary membership on a daily, weekly or monthly basis can also be arranged. Members can store their equipment safely at the club and have use of club facilities. In 2020 we are looking to include some calendar events for this category. For more information please contact the

Junior Section
Slaughden Sailing Club have a friendly Juniors section for racing, training or simply having fun. A number of our Juniors enter local regatta’s with good results. We also train Juniors to drive our Power boats from an early age. If your children would like to learn new life skills and or a new hobby please contact the Membership Secretary
RYA Dinghy Training
Slaughden Sailing Club offer RYA L1 & L2 to members and non- members joining on a temporary basis. These courses are designed for all ages and run over a weekend with some theory on a Friday pm. We also have a less formal sailing programme every Tuesday evening during the summer for adults and juniors. For those wanting to build confidence on the water we provide 1 to 1 coaching through our qualified Dinghy Instructors. For more information please contact Di Munro
Informal Sailing
To compliment our dinghy race programme throughout the year there is also the option to join informal sailing events. These involve sailing to one of a number of scenic destinations on the river for a picnic lunch. This has also been known to involve a group swim in the sea ! Friends of Slaughden
For those that do not plan to launch craft from Slaughden Sailing Club an option to join the club as a Friend of Slaughden exists. Cruising
Slaughden Sailing Club have an active Cruising section that join informal sailing events and organise weekend passages further afield along the coast. Racing
Slaughden Sailing Club have an lively race programme throughout the year including New Year’s day ! To prove it follow the link

Powerboat Training
Slaughden Sailing Club is an RYA registered training centre. We offer to Members and Non- members joining on a temporary basis RYA L1 & 2 Powerboat courses and separately RYA Safety Boat. Courses run over 2 days with a minimum 3 students, maximum 6. The club are also considering one day less formal taster sessions for those visiting Aldeburgh looking for an experience. Slaughden Sailing Club SSC
SSC are a volunteer sailing club located on the river Alde in Aldeburgh Suffolk towards the Martello tower. We are an RYA Regional Training Centre that welcome new members who sail or who would like to learn to sail dinghies and or cruisers. We cater for Windsurfers, Kayak, Canoe and Paddle Boards and offer RYA L1 & 2 Power & Safety Boat Courses.
