Sadly Peter died on Sunday 28th January in hospital. He had been poorly for some time and it was tough that during the 3 weeks he spent in hospital no-one could visit.
His last visit to Slaughden was on a lovely sunny day last summer when he inspected the pathway he was instrumental in building between the club and Upson's Yard. One of the many building & fencing projects that he was involved with at Slaughden. Then he had a good look at Pluto which he and Gill kindly gave to the club as the first training Wayfarer: 'were we still using her' ?-- 'Of course- she sails very well'.
Latterly he took his Westerly Galatea to Levington because of his decreased mobility - embarking was much easier & safer.
Peter loved being on the water and continued sailing from Levington and did bring her back to visit Slaughden- even last summer- at the age of 92 he was still sailing with some of his many friends.
Peter had a big heart and was everybody's friend. He will be sadly missed.
