Beach Clean

Published 12:11 on 21 Sep 2020

A big thank you to those that took part in the beach clean. The club have received this:

Thank you. The Beach Clean which took place on Sunday morning in bright sunshine and a strong North Easterly wind to blow away any threat of Covid horrors.

SSC and AYC were both well represented amongst the 17 collectors who turned up. If there's a competition then the SSC members were more prompt in their arrival time, set for 0930. We were pleased to have the addition of two guests, they'd come to Aldeburgh for a relaxing weekend!, and two enthusiastic children one of which was pleased to find a pair of good sun specs.

I've made our report to the Marine Conservation Society, they ask us to record what is picked up on a 100 metre stretch of beach. We covered the length of beach from the Martello Tower to Fort Green and collected 50lbs or 23 kilos of rubbish, this included the slope of the sea wall on the west side as well.

I will plan to organise these Beach Cleans twice yearly.
