The first race in our calendar is due to take place on Saturday 11 th April at 11am following several false starts linked to the pandemic. Racing can be in single handed dinghies or double handed dinghies maned by households. Slaughden Sailing would like to pay their respects to Andrew Smith who sadly died in an accident whilst out Kite Surfing near Walbleswich beach. Andrew was highly qualified in his sport being a Senior BKSA Kitesurf Instructor- Level 2 + Head Instructor IKO kitesurfing Instructor- BSUPA Sup Instructor. -1st Aid Qualified. Sadly Peter died on Sunday 28 th January in hospital. He had been poorly for some time and it was tough that during the 3 weeks he spent in hospital no-one could visit. His last visit to Slaughden was on a lovely sunny day last summer when he inspected the pathway he was instrumental in building between the club and Upson's Yard. Robert Tindall has setup a taskforce to look at protecting the shore line at the club along with the possibility of improving the slipway and adding a pontoon. As a result of the recent announcement that has catapulted Suffolk into Tier 4 the club have had to impose the following changes: - Closure of the clubhouse, once again, from 26 th December 2020. This in accordance with the directive that all indoor sports and health facilities should shut. However, the toilet facilities will remain accessible on a one in one out basis for any members attending the club.

The calendar sailing season has now ended for 2020 just before the latest Government announcements regarding a November lock down. The main clubhouse is now Out of Bounds in accordance with Public Health Guidance that states that outdoor sports centres including water sports must be closed.
