Although SSC is essentially a sailing club we feel that the social needs of our members are just as important. We are a very friendly, informal club and need no excuse for a get-together, be it in the Clubhouse or on the river. Our very able Social Secretary organises events, virtually throughout the year. Members enjoy three course suppers and Sunday lunches in the Clubhouse with the occasional BBQ thrown in. Afternoon teas are served during the August Regatta weeks and picnics on the river are a quintessential part of the summer. In the autumn a range of interesting talks are arranged. As with all of our activities we need volunteers to help in the galley even if it is just to help making tea and coffee after the races.
Members are encouraged to volunteer to either manage or help at events, as well as suggesting new ideas for events.
This year will be extra special because we will be celebrating our 50th Year! A taste of things to come:
- New Years Day Race & Festive Lunch
